Predators Triumph at Wardlaw!
The Fox Creek boys cross country team put in another strong effort winning the Wardlaw meet, defeating Region rival Saluda as well as Wardlaw, Strom Thurmond, and several other private schools. As usual, Sam Smith and Kenneth Miller led the way for the Predators, finishing in 3rd and 4th place. Chase Beagles (13th) and Kaleb Abbott (14th) were the other scorers for Fox Creek. However, the big hero of the day was freshman Parker Stampley, who finished in 10th place. Parker has been on the verge of running on the varsity team, and in this race, he was Fox Creek’s third runner and his points were the difference for the Predators.
Brock Williams, Jamal Malik, and Dylan Cagle all ran personal best times.
For the girls, Madison Gojda finished in 5th, Anna Smith was eighth, and Hannah Schleenbaker was eleventh. Hannah also set her personal best time.
As the season winds down, the JV boys and girls teams have 2 races left, the North Augusta and Region 3-AA meet. For the boys, the fight is on for the top 7 spots. Only 7 runners can compete at the state qualifier and state meets.
