The Lady Predators played their best game of the season when it counted most, taking on 3rd ranked Christ Church. Fox Creek dominated possession in the first half and had several shots on goal. Christ Church was only producing shots off of set plays, they weren’t generating much offense, but Bailey Wates was tremendous against what she did face. The Cavaliers were getting frustrated and really had no answers in unlocking the Predator defense. However, with 3 minutes left in the first half, Christ Church got a goal off of a free kick. Bailey made the original save, somehow the ball got loose and a Christ Church player fell into the ball. It hit the crossbar and fell down on the line. Sydney Pace tried to keep the ball from going over the line, but it barely crossed. The teams went into the half with the Predators trailing 1-0.
The second half started the same way with the Predators controlling possession, but after about 10 minutes you could sense the Predators were starting to tire. They were losing some of the 50/50 battles. About half way through the second half, Christ Church added a second goal. The Predators fought hard but they were starting to lose the possession battle. The Cavaliers added two more goals before time expired for a 4-0 final score. But Fox Creek had earned the respect of everyone there.
We proved that we could play with, and even control possession, against one of the top teams in the state. The Lady Predators should be proud of their historic season. Congratulations to all the girls for their time and effort this year, it’s one we will remember for a long time.
