Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Varsity Girls Basketball Defeats Strom Thurmond; Varsity Boys Fall in OT

A couple intense varsity basketball games took place at FCHS on Tuesday night vs the Strom Thurmond Rebels. The Varsity Girls were able to hold off a furious come back by the Lady Rebels to win 24-22! This is the first time in school history that the Lady Preds have defeated STHS! FC was led by Karis Bullard with 11 points including three 3PT field goals. Bree Wright pulled down 10 rebounds and Kourtnie Holmes had 8 boards. Keziah McAdoo led the team in assists with 5. The team now holds a 4-2 overall record.

The Varsity Boys played a back and forth game with the Rebels, but found themselves down by 7 pts late in the 4th quarter. The Preds battled back to cut the lead to 50-48 with 4 seconds remaining. Tyler Stampley scored 13 pts off the bench including three 3PT field goals and also was able to tie the game 50-50 at the FT line with 2 clutch free throws to send it into overtime. Deavion Scales led all scorers for both teams with 22 pts. Chandler O’Bannon led the team in rebounds with 12. Jadon Johnson tallied 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Jacoby Johnson scored 9 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. However, the Rebels prevailed in the overtime period and won by a final score of 55-52.

The Varsity teams will both play @ Westminster on Friday, Lincoln County at HOME on Tuesday, Strom Thurmond on the road on Wednesday, and @ Augusta Prep on Friday next week before taking a few days off for the Christmas holiday.
