After failing to qualify for the state meet for the first time in the program’s history last year, the boys cross country team roared back into finals qualifying 12th. Trey Armstrong (46th place) led the Predator pack, surpassing Sam Smith’s school record in the process, finishing the Colonia Cup course in 18:45. Trey became the 2nd Fox Creek runner to earn a steak dinner this year by running a sub-19 5K! David Witt (54) ran just a few seconds off of his PR to finish in 19 minutes flat. Kenny Miller (64, 19:27), Anthony Monaco (77, 19:48), and Gavin Glass (92, 20:20) all ran superb races to complete the scoring for Fox Creek. Dalton Sanders (103, 20:50) and Evan Wright (110, 21:12) also competed for the boys. Gavin and Evan ran PR’s.
The girls team qualified 11th! Natalie Feyan (39, 22:41) led the way for Fox Creek! Natalie becomes the first girl in school history to break the 23 minute barrier. Before this season, no female runner had ever run faster than 25:05! Brennley Furness (45, 23:01) ran the best race of her career, only 2 seconds away from breaking 23 minutes as well. Anna Smith (78, 24:48) also set a PR and broke the 25 minute barrier for the first time in her career! Juliana Guest (92, 25:26) and Ana Albornoz (130, 27:06) finished the scoring, while Makenzie Tullis (144, 27:57) also finished for the Predators.
What a great day for the Fox Creek Cross Country team. Congratulations runners! The State Meet will be held on the same Colonia Cup course on Saturday, Nov. 16. The girls race is at 9:55 and the boys will run at 10:20.
