JV Baseball took on Batesburg-Leesville in the front end of a JV, Varsity double header Friday night in Batesburg. Sophomore Chesney Lepard got the ball and was solid through 4 innings striking out 5 allowing just 2 hits. The Panthers offense clawed a run in the home half of the 2nd with 2 singles and a walk. Batesburg-Leesville would hold the lead until Quincy Wells hit a 1 out double down the left field line, Freshman Caleb Cook would knock Wells in with a 2 out line drive single to center knotting the game up at 1-1. Lepard would finish the game keeping the Panther offense at bay. The JV Pred’s had an opportunity in the 5th when Jeremy Hollar smoked a double into right center field. Hollar would advance to third on a passed ball. With Coach Avery Wilson realizing the urgency of the situation as JV games are often dictated by time limit he put Hollar in motion. The attempted straight steal of home was on, this time Hollar was caught and the game ended in a tie. That is the second tie of the season for the young Predators pushing the record to 2-1-2 on the year.
Jv Baseball will look to get back on the winning side of things when the face off against Ninety-Six High School on Tuesday, March 17th @5:00 pm. Look forward to seeing everyone there. Go Creek!
