What was a road trip to Batesburg-Leesville to open region play turned into a Tuesday night region home opener. It was a tightly contested match up through out. Junior Caleb Baynham got the start and spun 6 strong innings striking out 10 allowing just 4 hits. Offensively Creek was led by Sophomore John Martin Sherlock who was 2-3 1 RBI 2 SB. Connor Sherlock added a 2 out RBI to put the Preds up 2-1 after 4 innings. This is a lead Creek would hold until a 1 out double by the Panthers in the 6th would knot it back up at 2-2. The 7th inning would be magic for the Predators, after 3 hitters had come to the plate in the home half of the inning the stage was set for Junior Reese Benson. Runners had reached 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the inning, Batesburg-Leesville had pulled the infield in. Benson hit an 0-1 groundball to second scoring Kenny Miller from 3rd sending Creek to 1-0 in region play and the crowd into a frenzy.
Next up for the boys will be a trip to Blue Ridge High School Wednesday, March 11 @ 6:00pm. The next home game for Creek will be vs. Aynor Saturday, March 14 @ 10:00am. Look forward to seeing everyone there Go Creek!!
